Starting a Writers Group

By Jen Leo | Permalink | No Comments | August 29th, 2002 | Trackback

I just joined a writers group last night in Eugene. One woman who had been in the audience at our Wild Writing Women:Stories of World Travel event at Mother Kali’s got some writers together after meeting our group and invited me to join. Last night was my first attendance. It’s a weekly group, which will be new and challenging for me, but I need it in order to get those stories out! It’s a nice small group with a strong devotion to their writing, and most of all decent feedback. The four of us walked away with good critique that would benefit our stories.

If you don’t want to start a group, maybe you want to break one up. Here’s a hilarious list of instructions for How To Break Up A Writer’s Group.

But before you can break one up, you need to start. Here are a few online resources for you:

  • HollyLisle.com: A good resource and community for writers. (It looks cool and I want to join their web log section!)
  • A list of writers groupsfrom the ever-so-helpful Writers Write.
