New Journal

Life immitating art, or art immitating life?

After having a dream that I should be recording my memoirs I scrapped my old journal and started a new one. Last night my writing was so much better since I had it in my mind to be recording my life as it is today instead of just the dirty goss and emotional venting that I usually write about.

Here’s the thing though…my last journal was falling apart from the first entry. I kept writing in it even if all the pages were unbound. And that’s kinda how my last few months have been since I bought it. Things have been much steadier as of late, and it’s only natural that I have a book to suit the mood.

It’s interesting that you posted this today, as I was just thinking about this very topic. I’ve always enjoyed starting new journals at unique times - a birthday, Jan. 1st, first day of a new road trip, etc. - since there seems to be such an energy to that first page. I’m rationing out the last pages of my current journal, just to save the new one for my next fit of travel :)
