Props to Susan Brady at Travelers' Tales for her patience and negotiating skills — but mostly for her patience in handling the permissions for Sand In My Bra. Negotiating contracts with publishers, agents, and authors is one of Susan’s least fave tasks at TT, but she did such a good job on Sand that this is the lowest we’ve ever come in on our book budget. Ever. In other words, this is our cheapest book, rights-wise.

It also means that I will start making money about 7,000-10,000 books sooner than I would’ve three months ago. Our humor books and our women’s series are our two most successful lines, so the chances are very good that I’ll see a royalty check within a year of the release.

Thanks Susan, I’m extra amped to get these books sold now.
