Punctuation Fairy Tale

This post is not about my life. But I put it in this new category because it is a success story for a writer who followed her instincts. Encouragement for those of you who are working on your own books. And I know there are a few of you out there because you’re emailing me telling me about it.

“Writes, Punctuation Book and Finds It’s a Best Seller”

is the New York Times article about Lynne Truss and her book, Eats Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation.

It has become the surprise #1 bestseller in London. “Among the legions of the surprised are the executives at her publishing house, Profile Books, who ordered a modest initial printing of 15,000 books, but now have 510,000 in print”

Can we all say WOW? Good for her. I will have to pick up a copy because as we all know, I definitely need it. (See? I had no idea where to put the comma in that sentence and I just guessed. I don’t even know if I’m right. Bad form.)

The part of the article that I liked the most was the note about her yellow cover. James and I have talked about wanting a yellow cover for Whose Panties Are These? Now I want one even more. We’ll see if it pans out.

Congratulations Lynne Truss! To all of the other writers out there who are working on their books, KEEP AT IT. Bestsellers do happen. If you want a copy of Eats Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation, you’ll have to buy it through Amazon UK. I just checked on Amazon.com and it wasn’t even there.
