The official title of the award is:

The Henry Lawson Award for Travel Writing

It is an annual prize sponsored by The Australian Tourist Commission and Qantas Airways

The prize will go to an “exceptional story that best embodies Australia’s personality and uniqueness as a destination.”

Who is eligible? Anyone who has a story published about Oz in North America between November 1, 2003 and October 31, 2004. Ok, well, there are a few more rules than that, but you get the idea. Entries must be postmarked by November 15, 2004. Read the rest on their website.

Thanks for sending this in, James. I think it’s great that writers have an opportunity to go over there now, write it up, get it published, turn in their submission, and have a chance to win another trip for next year. Sometimes we don’t always find out about these with enough advance warning.
