Is It A Trip, Or Is It A Writing Class?

You be the judge. IgoUgo has teamed up with Media Bistro to sell a travel writing class in Provence.

Travel Writing in Provence

Dates:May 8-15, 2004
Price: $1,780 (double); $1,978 (single)

For all that money, plus the cost of airfare, and a heavy travel itinerary, I’ll be impressed if the students truly walk away with “a portfolio of clips to get you started in the travel-writing biz.”

Clips, to me, means more than one published piece. How can you do the research, write the story, and get it published all in a week? Let alone, a whole portfolio’s worth.

If anybody takes the class, please write in and let us know how it was and whether or not it met/exceeded your expectations.

Jeez! That’s a hefty fee, but an interesting concept. If I had the cash, I wouldn’t mind classes in that corner of the world! I took a shorter and cheaper class this past weekend in DC. I thought it was perfect for a beginner like me who is not even at the publishing phase yet. I’m not sure how often they offer it, but there may be similar ones out there by other taught by others. Have you ever taught any?

I wrote about my class experience on both my regular blog and my new travel writing blog (to keep track of my journey). Here are the links:

Jen

would this be the same IGOUGO bunch that used about 2 dozen of my stories and countless pictures then never paid me….?

would this be the same bunch of people who thought rio was the capital of brasil?

If so, I really must put my name down…

Good feedback, Philip. I wasn’t aware that they were a paying outfit. Sorry to hear that you got burned. All the more reason to stay loyal to BnA.
