Tim Cahill in Portland

I've already told you that Tim-the-writer, not Tim-the-Aussie, is coming to San Francisco. But he will also be in Portland for the Willamette Writers Conference this weekend. He’s giving the keynote speech at their banquet Saturday night.

I just found Eric Bartel’s article about him in the Portland Tribune.

I thought this section was amusing.

“ Cahill is friendly with award-winning writer Paul Theroux, to whom he has been compared. “As a person, he’s an absolutely sweet individual,” he says. “Absolutely not what you expect from his books, which tend to have a grouchy tone.”
Theroux once sent him a copy of a book review in which Cahill was called “the working-class Paul Theroux.”
“He wrote ‘Ha!’ on the article,” Cahill says. “I don’t know what that meant.”

See you Wednesday, Tim!
