My Space for Writers

By Jen Leo | Permalink | 6 comments | January 26th, 2006 | Trackback

So, after hearing that My Space is one of the best free marketing and promotional tools out there, I’m finally starting to get my own page going. ( As if I need another blog).

But while I take the time to fill out every “favorite” I’ve ever had, maybe some of you can tell me what you like about My Space. I’m especially interested in hearing what cool groups there are for authors to join. Or just cool groups in general. Which ones are you enjoying? Which ones do you think I should join?

Regarding promotion, it seems like a natural—one giant arena where tons of people are connecting via their interests.

Anyway, send me your take on My Space and links to your spaces.

Hey Jen :) Just sent you an invite via MySpace. I’ve been on there a while and for the most part, it’s enabled me to get in touch with a lot of musician friends that over the years I’ve lost touch with. As for groups, I’ve mostly joined some sci-fi groups (Firefly/Serenity, Buffy, etc) for the fangirl in me. LOL But while I’ve contacted with some local writers, I haven’t joined any of the writers groups there.

Hi Jen,

So have you found MySpace to be a worthwhile marketing tool after all? I\’m a writer too and wondering about the best use of it.

Thanks,

David

I am a writer, too, published ten books but never made much of an effort at marketing. My last novel, The Beheading Game, was a re-write of the old story of Gawain and the Green Knight as a gay love story. If you think that sounds like fun, take a look at my web site Brenda Webster.com
