New York Travel Writing Workshops

The editors of National Geographic Traveler are offering the last of their one-day travel writing seminars in New York on May 7, 2006. Topics include: learning the different styles of magazines, conceiving and pitching a story, basic reporting, writing the winning article, and the publication process.
Inside Secrets of Successful Travel Writing
Date/Time: Sunday, May 7, 2006 from 9-4pm
Location: TBA
Instructors: Contributing writing Andrew Nelson and one of the Traveler editorial staff of editor in chief Keith Bellows, executive editor Paul Martin, and senior editors, Sheila Buckmaster, Scott Stuckey, or Jayne Wise.
Details: Participants learn by example, effectively benefiting from the informed efforts of Traveler’s editors and writers. Workshop leaders will clearly communicate why a story works, demystifying the process of travel writing along the way.

I know Kelly mentioned this in February, but I wanted to remind you about David Farley’s ten-week travel writing class starting April 25. Here are the details again:
Gotham Writer’s Workshop: Travel Writing Workshop
Date/Time: Tuesdays (starting April 25) from 7-10pm
Location: 272 W. 10 St., NYC (West Village)
Cost $420, including a $25 registration fee ($395 for returning students)
Instructor: David Farley
Details: A beginners course designed to teach students basic travel writing skills, or brush up on existing ones, using lectures, critique, and feedback.
There’s also a ten-week online class beginning Tuesday, May 23, 2006.
