Doug Lansky’s Signspotting Best Sign Contest

By Jen Leo | Permalink | No Comments | June 6th, 2006 | Trackback

I just got Doug Lansky’s Signspotting book this week, and it’s crazy fun. You know, all those weird signs you see when you’re traveling- the kind that don’t quite fit with the scenery, in or out of context? Well, funloving travel vet Doug Lansky has compiled a book of them with Lonely Planet.

Signspotting: Absurd & Amusing Signs from Around the World

Some of my faves were the funeral home with the “ATM inside” sign in their front yard. Or the visual sign for “No high heels” with a big Swiss mountain in the back. And then of course the marquis sign that said,

Happy Easter
We Rent Handguns.

Where does Doug get all these gems? Have a look on Signspotting.com.

There’s a current poll running now and until June 16, 2006 to find the next best sign. It’s fun, have a look!
I voted for the McDonalds related one….
