Mediabistro’s How to Pitch

By Kelly Amabile | Permalink | No Comments | July 30th, 2006 | Trackback

When I first started as a travel writer, one of the first things I did was buy a Writer’s Market and send for every travel magazine’s writer’s guidelines. But, when I received them, most of the time, the information provided lacked detailed specifics such as which editors to send department queries and pay information.

Later, I discovered Mediabistro, an excellent resource for writers. But more specifically, Mediabistro’s How to Pitch section, which featured detailed information about breaking into a specific magazine, directly from the editors who make the decisions.

A Mediabistro’s Avant Guild membership is required to gain access to the section. The cost is $49 for one year or $78 for two years. Definitely worth it if you’re looking to break into a top travel magazine.
