Chicago: Fall Travel Writing Seminar

sm_homepagebanner.jpgThe Newberry Library in Chicago will offer an extensive collection of humanities-related seminars this fall, including several one-day and multi-week writing workshops. Here’s the scoop on their travel writing workshop for all our Windy City readers:

What: See the World; Write the Story
When: Wednesdays, September 20 - October 25, 2006
Time: 5:45 pm - 7:45 pm
Cost: $140 for six sessions
Instructor: Beatriz Badikian-Gartler holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Illinois Chicago. She has published numerous travel essays and articles in anthologies, journals and others, including The New York Times Travel Section.
Course Description: Whether you plan to publish your articles or simply improve the descriptive power of your letters and postcards, whether you travel to the other side of the globe or simply to another neighborhood in your city, this workshop will teach you the basic skills (and secrets) of successful travel writing.

Sounds exciting, wish I lived in Chicago. I took a creative writing course in grade 10 and it was probably one of the most formative experiences in my life. Since then i have been writing mad. I am still scribbling 25 years later and cant seem to be able to stop.
