The Writer’s Almanac and On the Road

ontheroad.jpgEach morning a piece of poetry or prose greets me when I check my email inbox, courtesy of Garrison Keillor’s The Writer’s Almanac. I like this daily dose of literature because it often introduces me to writers and poets I am not familiar with, and inspires me to make sure I carve out time each day to devote to my own words. In addition to a poem or two, each daily email includes relevant historical and literary notes from the publishing world for that particular day. Today’s email pays tribute to the 49th anniversary of the publishing of Jack Kerouac’s On the Road with a short history of how the book came to be.
