Guardian’s Weekly Top 10 Travel Blogs

By Abha | Permalink | 3 comments | July 24th, 2007 | Trackback

So the Guardian has a new travel-blog spy on board - Benji Lanyado. Looks like the Guardian is diverting new focus to the blogosphere, and this dude is doing the honours.

He is not a typical reviewer though - hard to please and not afraid to say what he thinks. So he doesn’t rave about every blog he likes, he critics them maybe a bit more harshly than usual, but not without reason.

His top ten blogs for this week are:
Gridskipper
Gadling
World Hum
Holiday Pad
Flycheapo
My Marrakech
Matador Travel Feature Articles
Travelistic
Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears / English Russia

Further more, he is open to introductions and other travel blog suggestions that you can send him at benji.lanyado@guardian.co.uk

Benji is fantastic. He is funny, smart and a little bit edgy. What’s not to like? He also has a great travel blog himself - Different Directions - http://blog.youngineurope.com/.

And without Benji, I would have never found your blog, so that’s pretty great, too.

So why no link to his blog?

Agree with Maryam. Anyone following The Guardian travel section in past 2 years will be aware that it is easily the best by long shot and Benji is in the ascendancy over there.

In fact, the not-so-new look Berliner format of The Guardian (almost 2 years old) in some ways looks blog-like. The Guardian seems to skillfully woven this idiom into their publication.

Benji is a top bloke (dude!)
