Barefoot Expeditions Seeks Intern

It seems that nowadays there are few travel writers that don’t keep up a blog. And with the rise in social marketing tools (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) writers are becoming equally as skilled in networking as they are in crafting eloquent prose. If you’re proficient in all of the above, the internship at Barefoot Expeditions may be for you. The company runs expeditions to the Galapagos Islands and in Ecuador and they’re looking to add a superstar to their team.

What the intern will be doing:
Internet marketing
Increase and support Barefoot Expeditions’ presence across social networks
Video blogging, tweeting, blogging, googling, friendfeeding, engaging, etc.
Act as an “embedded blogger” in some of Barefoot Expeditions’ adventure trips in Ecuador, Galapagos and Peru
Interview guests and profile them in the blog
Profile other companies, blogs and trips in the blog

Requirements:
You are a college student (or recent grad) looking for a great experience in tourism and social media
You love adventure travel (rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, ice climbing)
You love the internet and love enganging and interacting with people in social networks
You know how to do some light graphic design
You already have a blog — the blog should be at least 9 months old and have been updated constantly; the blog should relate to social media, technology or travel
You are a good writer
You are up to speed with all social networks and have used it to promote our blog or website
You have hundreds of friends/followers in twitter, facebook, myspace, friendfeed
You have a laptop, video camera and digital camera
You know how to edit videos
Speaking Spanish is nice but not necessary

Looks like the internship can be done remotely, but you would probably want to take advantage of the free room at the Barefoot Expeditions house available to the intern for 3-6 months. Plus if you work in Ecuador, there is payment involved (according to skill level). As an intern you would also be invited along on adventure trips and expeditions for free, another great perk for anyone looking to travel!
