It’s the time of the year that guidebook publishers begin work to tie up their commissions for the upcoming year. This is when work really begins on the 2010 editions of their guidebooks.

Travel writers with a leaning towards the historical may be interested in this lead.

Globe Pequot Press seek an updater for their guides to the Civil War Sites of North and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi and Florida.

Updating a guidebook is a fiddly job requiring, for example, the painstaking checking of contact telephone numbers and website addresses, plus flagging out of date information and suggesting like-for-like alternative information.
