Submission call for travel writers and photographers
Are you going to Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, or St. Maarten? If the answer is yes, don't miss the chance to build your clip file. NIGHTS PUBLICATIONS INC. is looking for writers and by the sound of their guidelines, this would be a fun assignment.

Writers' Guidelines 2003
EDITORIAL FOCUS: Vacationers who are already in ARUBA, BONAIRE, CURAÇAO, or ST. MAARTEN/ST.MARTIN.
Subject Matter: Nonfiction lifestyle articles specific to the destination. Activities, local culture, folklore, entertainment, gambling, dining, and history that is presented in an entertaining and accessible way. Stories that revolve around colorful local characters or personalities are particularly welcome.
Language: American English.
Style: Upbeat, friendly, fluid & descriptive. Length: 250 - 750 words for Nights, 300 to 900 words for Island Gourmet.
TIPS:.Utilize all the senses to bring your story to life. Let the reader live the story. Demonstrate your style in your query letter. Make sure that you have carefully verified your facts (spelling of names, telephone numbers, etc.).
Timeline: Stories are generally published 12 to 16 months after acceptance. So care must be taken to ensure that your story content will still be valid.
Pays on acceptance: $100 - $250 per article, depending on word length ($100 for 250 words). Payment in full within 30 days of invoicing. All articles subjected to editing.
Rights purchased: First Caribbean & North American rights.
Photos: Buys first rights. Pays $50 per photo published. Captions, subject identification and model release forms required. No photos returned unless accompanied by SASE with CANADIAN POSTAGE or INTERNATIONAL RESPONSE COUPON (Nights Publications is not responsible for unsolicited manuscripts and cannot guarantee their return).
Submitting Stories: Manuscripts will not be returned, so do not send originals. Preference given to email submissions (cut & paste – NO ATTACHMENTS).
