Can We Say BabeMobile?
A gorgeous black man in a champagne Nissan pulled up next to me at a light and smiled till I was finished rolling down the window. Here we go, our first joke about the pink car, I thought.
"How's that diesel working out for you?" he said. I was caught off guard. And also in his smile.
"Uh, uh, it's still alive." I sputtered back, surprised that he wasn't making fun of it.
"I haven't seen one of those in years."
"It's 20 years old!" I said. The light turned green and we had to drive on.
This made my day. It's surprising what a little bit of "Hello" can do for a girl.
My friendly interaction with Mr. Champers made me want to get a CB Radio. I'd love to hear what the truckers are going to be saying when they pass by on the road. But then again, it might get too crass for my ears. How much do they cost anyway?
I could put my handle on the car as well. Right on the roof!

Thanks, Rolf. Yes, it's going to be difficult to blog, and write, and book events on the road. I would like to keep a journal. I can't remember who it was, but when I told them about the tour they said, "Hey, that's a whole book in itself, you should write it."
At the time I was overwhelmed in todos and I just laughed at them. But I have been keeping some notes here and there, and this blog helps too. I can't make any promises, but I'll see what I can do...If not a book, then maybe a good long feature.

re: Diesel comments.
You will soon discover that we Diesel car owners stick together and are a gregarious lot. People are always asking me about my fuel consumption, etc. with my 240D.
Oh, and as far as getting fueled up at truck stops, keep in mind that your car needs the small nozzle, not the big one that they use for Semi trucks. It won't fit.
